Road to Education

Education was my chosen career path since I was young. As my education is important to me and the education of others I am a person beyond the classroom. I was fortunate to have wonderful teachers that provide learning experiences that I continue to reflect on. Through the love and support of family and friends I earned my degree from Grand Valley State University. I began my career teaching in Beaufort County South Carolina. Although striking out on my own was a challenge I knew I could always come home and after six years in the south teaching elementary and middle school students I was able to fullfill my dream of being a Michigan Educator.

The First Few Years

In a little over six years of teaching I have turned my goasl.  into a reality. I have been fortunate to teach a content area that I have a love and passion for. Teaching math to all age groups including coaching friends through math courses has brought me joy. In the classroom along with the content I want my students to develop an appreciation for the complex subject. Banishing phrases such as "math is hard," and "I can't," puts the learners in to a positive mindset that they can accomplish goals. They know that I don't expect math to be their favorite subject but we will all conquer our goals together.

My life
Traveling

I have always loved to travel. Finding new places to explore and revisiting old favorites such as Arizona have been great experiences that I've been able to have with friends and family. I love sharing these moments with my students as well.

Summers

I've been fortunate to spend nearly all of my summers on one of Michgan's inland lakes. The Irish Hills is where my family was every weekend for as long as I can remember. Hosting get togethers with family and friends is one of the biggest parts of my life.

Family

This year my family grew as Joe and I were married. He and I share the same passions for travel and new experiences. He has also been a big supporter of our newest endevor as we moved from South Carolina to Michigan.
